Starting In The Middle

Believe it or not, Teeky-Tiki wasn't always the light-hearted, jungle-frolicky good time that it is now. No, at one point, it had a much darker, sinister plot. We'd come up with an idea that we thought was awesome! A solid theme, good gameplay, and something for the edgier crowd of gamers we fancied ourselves a part of. But still we had concerns.

Like, if we took a chance on something as edgy as we'd planned, what would happen if the community didn't like the theme? What if it was too edgy? Too offensive? Would people completely disregard the other awesome aspects of the game?

Would it simply wither on the vine?

So, without going into any more detail on THAT game, let's just say we decided to go a more family-friendly route the first time out of the gate. And who knows? — If people really want "that other one," or if they fall in love with the mechanics but want a different theme (looking at you, Munchkin and Legendary), then we'll do our best to make that one happen, too.

In our next article, we'll be covering what sucks about re-skinning a game. Should be fun! But first, we'd like to ask you a question about themes?

Question: What games have you purchased just because you liked the theme? Click here to share with us on our Facebook page.
